Cold weather in Kansas City brings surge in cold-related cases in local hospitals

Date:

Kansas City, Mo. – After the cold snap hit the city on Monday, it might have led to a fatal incident.

Two individuals were discovered in the snow on different occasions this week, according to the University of Kansas Health System. Sadly, one of them passed away. The health system hasn’t provided further details about these individuals or what happened to them.

Besides this unfortunate death, the health system’s medical team is dealing with a surge in cold-related cases. They are treating conditions like frostbite, injuries from shoveling snow, falls on ice, and accidents due to slippery roads.

Experts are advising caution, emphasizing that in the extremely low temperatures and wind chills currently in Kansas City, frostbite can occur in under 15 minutes.

Once more details are provided, we will update the story.
