KCI Corridor Trail opens as latest investment in Kansas City’s active transportation network

Date:

Kansas City, Missouri – On Wednesday, October 29, officials from Kansas City and the community will get together to celebrate the launch of the new KCI Corridor Trail. This project is meant to make it easier for people to get around and have fun in the city’s Northland area. The ceremony to cut the ribbon will be from 11:15 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. at the south end of the trail, which is off of N. Ambassador Drive and Tiffany Springs Parkway.

The new shared-use trail extends along the northeast side of Interstate 29, from NW Old Tiffany Springs Road to NW 112th Street. The trail makes it safer and easier for people to walk and ride bikes, and it also connects surrounding communities, businesses, and recreational areas better.

City authorities, such as Mayor Quinton Lucas, 1st District Councilman Kevin O’Neill, and Transportation Director Jason Waldron, are going to speak at the occasion. After their speeches, the ceremonial ribbon cutting will take place, which will mark the start of the long-awaited infrastructure project.

The KCI Corridor Trail shows that Kansas City continues to invest into active transportation and long-lasting infrastructure. New retaining walls, fences, and landscaping features, such as trees that border the walk to give shade and beauty, make the 10-foot-wide shared-use path even better.

There will be parking for guests at the Tiffany Landing strip mall, which is off N. Ambassador Drive and Tiffany Springs Parkway and is within walking distance of the event site.

Officials in the city have said that the route not only makes it easier for people to go around, but it also makes life better in the booming Northland area. The project’s goal is to cut down on traffic by linking important roadways and giving walkers and bicycles their own path. It also seeks to promote healthier, more ecologically friendly ways to get about.

The KCI Corridor Trail is another step forward in making Kansas City more connected and accessible for everyone as the city continues to build new trails and pedestrian pathways.
