Kansas City businesses urged to complete license applications to avoid potential penalties

Date:

Kansas City, Missouri – The Revenue Division of Kansas City reminds all company owners that the yearly business license application and payment deadline is fast approaching. Businesses are advised to finish their paperwork quickly to avoid late fines and penalties; the due deadline is February 28, 2025.

All applications this year have to be sent through the city’s web portal, KCMO.gov/quicktax. This electronic filing requirement seeks to guarantee effective handling of applications and streamlining of the procedure. Companies missing the February deadline will be subject to penalties and accumulated interest, which could have a big impact on their running expenses.

New businesses—that is, those who have lately changed their name, address, or legal structure—need a second registration application. This can also be accessed via the online portal or in person at the Business License Office, located on the first floor of City Hall at 414 E. 12th St., Kansas City, MO 64106.

The City’s Business License Section is available to assist with any questions or concerns regarding the application process. For direction and assistance, business owners should contact the office at 816-513-1120.

To enable continuous commercial operations and compliance with municipal laws, the Revenue Division advises all business owners to make sure their licenses are in order before the deadline.
