Kansas City, Missouri – A four-on, four-off schedule, starting pay above $65,000 and dozens of possible career paths are part of Kansas City’s latest push to attract new police officers. But before recruits can reach the academy, they must first clear two important tests.
The Kansas City Missouri Police Department will hold Police Recruit Testing on Saturday, July 25, at the Kansas City Regional Police Academy, giving applicants an opportunity to complete the written and physical portions of the hiring process in one day.
The academy is located at 6885 NE Pleasant Valley Road in Kansas City. Check-in for the written examination will begin at 8 a.m. Applicants who successfully complete that exam will remain at the facility for the Physical Abilities Test.
KCPD says Kansas City needs officers who have the desire to serve the community and help build a better city. The department is presenting the July testing event as the first practical step for people who have considered law enforcement but have not yet started the application process.

The department employs more police officers than any other agency in Missouri or Kansas, according to KCPD. That size allows it to offer a wider variety of assignments, specialized units and job types within a large-city environment.
Pay for the officer rank ranges from $65,004 to $106,776. Officers also work a rotating schedule of four days on followed by four days off, a structure that provides extended stretches away from duty throughout the year.
Beyond patrol work, KCPD says recruits can pursue numerous specialized career options as they gain training and experience. The department describes the work as an opportunity to make a direct difference in Kansas City while building a long-term career in public service.
