Kansas City, Missouri – The Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education’s Annual Performance Report gave North Kansas City Schools its best score in four years, which is an important achievement for the schools. The district got 86.5 percent on the 2025 APR, which means they got 173 out of 200 points under the state’s MSIP6 accountability system. This is the best performance since the new criteria were put in place, which shows that student achievement is clearly on the rise.
The district is now one of the top five achievers in the Northland, along with Kearney, Platte County, Park Hill, and Smithville. North Kansas City Schools is now in the top quarter of all Missouri districts, which shows that students are making steady growth in all grades and classrooms. The district says that students did better than the average for Missouri in every topic tested by the Missouri Assessment Program and the End-of-Course tests.
Leaders in the district said that the accomplishment shows that all the schools are working together and staying focused. Superintendent Dr. Rochel Daniels said that every subject area that was assessed showed progress, which is an uncommon achievement.
“I am incredibly proud of our students and all they accomplished this past year. We have much to celebrate in North Kansas City Schools with increased student achievement across every single tested area,” Daniels said. “Such data attests to our continued focus on academic excellence and the innovative teaching and learning I witness in classrooms across the district each day.”
A few schools showed exceptionally big improvements from one year to the next. Linden West Elementary School saw a 28.8 percent rise, Fox Hill Elementary School saw a 22.83 percent rise, and Maple Park Middle School saw a 22.3 percent rise. One of the best things that happened across the district was that every student group met its growth target in math. That success as a group led to an 11.2 percent rise in total math scores.
“These results would not be possible without our exceptional teachers and staff, who work diligently to provide world-class learning experiences for all. In NKC Schools, our mission charges us to serve as relentless champions for all students and each other, and this achievement shows that commitment in action,” Daniels added. “As we carry the momentum forward, we know the work is never done and we seek continual improvement. We look forward to building on this success by championing each of the 21,800 students we are honored to serve.”
