Kansas City, Missouri – The city has announced the latest winners of its Outdoor Dining Enhancement Grant Program, which will help twelve additional eateries in Kansas City. This current phase gives a total of $100,000 in cash, which will help local businesses improve and extend their outside dining areas just in time for the expected crowds of the 2026 World Cup.
This is the second batch of grants, after the first one gave out $200,000 in December 2024. The program is part of an ongoing effort by the city to help small businesses and have Kansas City ready for a lot of tourists during the World Cup. This round of financing comes from KC BizCare, which builds on the momentum generated by the first Convention and Tourism Budget allocations.
Kansas City Mayor Quinton Lucas expressed pride in the initiative, highlighting its role in strengthening the city’s restaurant community.
“This second round of funding demonstrates our continued commitment to supporting Kansas City’s exceptional restaurant community,” said Mayor Lucas. “These businesses will use the grants to create inviting outdoor spaces that will serve our community well beyond the 2026 World Cup, contributing to the unique character that makes Kansas City a premier destination.”
The twelve restaurants that got grants provide a great mix of the city’s cuisine scene. The winners include Novel Restaurant, Scotts Kitchen and Catering at Hangar 29, La Bodega, Ruby Jean’s Juicery, Border Brewing Company, Fifth and Emery, Orange By Devoured, Mean Mule, Brewery Emperial, Torn Label Brewing Company, Trezo Mare Restaurant, and Kansas City Taco Company. These are all innovative newcomers to well-loved neighborhood spots.

Each establishment will use the money to improve or add to their outside dining areas, making them more appealing and easier for customers to get to. These changes are meant to not only bring in more money for businesses, but also add to the city’s particular charm and friendliness, which will be important as Kansas City gets ready for the world stage.
There was a long review process for everyone who applied for the money. This includes an administrative check for eligibility and complete documentation, as well as a technical review by the Public Works Department. Safety, accessibility, and feasibility—especially for outdoor setups in public spaces—were all carefully considered.
The Outdoor Dining Enhancement Grant Program has now given out a total of $300,000 to 32 area eateries with the latest announcement included. City officials believe this is a clear sign that Kansas City is committed to supporting its businesses and making long-term changes in preparation for international events.
You can find out more about the program and how businesses can apply for future rounds on the KC BizCare website or by calling their office. As the city gets ready for the World Cup, these expenditures are intended to pay off by making places that are fun and friendly for both residents and visitors.
