TG Missouri announces $100 million expansion in Perryville, retaining over 1,600 jobs

Date:

Perryville, Missouri – Prominent car parts producer TG Missouri, a company of Toyoda Gosei, has lately revealed intentions for a major growth in Perryville. Over the next three years, the corporation will spend around $100 million improving its operations and keeping over 1,600 full-time employment. Aiming to promote international business contacts, Governor Mike Parson last year led a successful trade mission to Japan, after which this development follows.

Governor Parson expressed excitement over the development, stressing the strategic relevance of foreign trade missions in luring such kind of investments.

“This significant investment is exactly the kind of results that our international Trade Missions were designed to encourage,” he stated.

At its Perryville factory, the principal site for TG North America, TG Missouri’s development plan calls for the installation of new manufacturing equipment along with more automation. The plant generates plastic trim components, airbags, and steering wheels among other automotive components. The Perryville development will increase TG Missouri’s capacity to serve its worldwide market, given a customer base spanning North America and including Japan, Australia, Mexico, and Taiwan.

“TG has been in the Perryville community for over 35 years, and we were the first TG location in North America,” Robert Patrick, President of TG Missouri, said. “Perryville is a rural community with a population of 8,500. TG is an integral part of the local economy. We provide jobs and contribute to our region’s industrial growth.

“Toyoda Gosei is a world-wide industry, and each opportunity for Perryville could also be an opportunity for another continent, country, state, or city,” Perryville Mayor Larry Riney said. “We greatly value this opportunity to work together to help TG invest right here in Perryville as they work to strengthen their company’s worldwide portfolio and industry presence.”

Funding the state’s trade missions, the Hawthorn Foundation was instrumental in enabling the conversations that resulted in this growth. Executive Director of the Foundation Becky Willard emphasized the advantages of allowing the Governor to interact personally with reputable Missouri businesses.

“Providing the opportunity for the Governor to meet with companies already established in Missouri is a major benefit of the Trade Missions,” Becky Willard, Executive Director of the Hawthorn Foundation, said. “On behalf of the over 150 investors in Hawthorn Foundation, we are thrilled that TG Missouri will be expanding in Perryville.”

Without using state incentives, Governor Parson’s trade trip to Japan in October 2023 highlights Missouri’s will to create a business-friendly climate drawing large international investment. Japan is still a major trading partner; Missouri sent around $475 million of goods to Japan last year.

Authorities in local government and economic development have commended TG Missouri’s investment for improving the local workforce and the general state of southeast Missouri’s economy. Executively Director of the Perry County Economic Development Authority Crystal Jones praised the business for their dedication.

“The 1,600 jobs that will be retained as part of this expansion not only strengthens our local workforce but also contributes to the long-term economic success of southeast Missouri. We are proud to continue working alongside our friends and neighbors at TG to reinforce their position as a key driver of growth and opportunity in the region,” Jones stated.
