Kansas City, Missouri – The Kansas City Health Department and Community Capital Fund (CCF) have started the KC Doula Program, a grant program that aims to help local doulas. This gives doulas in Kansas City a new opportunity. Applications for this funding became available on June 16. Doulas who are interested have until July 28, 2025, to send in their papers.
The American Rescue Plan Act provides funding for this program, which will give payments of up to $15,000 to each successful applicant. The purpose is to help doulas enhance their services, expand their businesses, and make maternal care better for families in Kansas City, Missouri. The program addresses how important doulas are for improving birth outcomes and the health of the whole family. It also addresses how doula support can help lower the risk of problems like cesarean births that aren’t needed and postpartum depression.
“Doulas play a critical role in supporting healthy pregnancies, safe births, and stronger families,” said Dr. Marvia Jones. “This program recognizes their importance and seeks to invest in their growth and long-term sustainability.”
To be eligible, candidates must be at least 18 years old, own a business or organization that is legally formed in Kansas City, and help families in the area. They also need to be certified doulas who have been working for at least a year and are either already enrolled as Medicaid providers or plan to utilize the money to become Medicaid providers.

You can use the grants to pay for a wide range of professional charges, such as business growth needs, education fees, insurance, and administrative help. If you have questions regarding how you can utilize the grant money, you should contact the program team immediately.
Doulas can apply in a number of ways, including as filling out an online application, emailing a filled-up PDF form, or sending a physical application by mail or in person to the Community Capital Fund headquarters on Wayne Avenue in Kansas City. Notifications of awards should be sent out by August 18, and the first grants should be given out on August 25.
