USDA ReConnect program funds digital revolution in Daviess, Gentry, and Harrison counties

Missouri – Thanks to a $11 million investment meant to provide high-speed internet to underprivileged areas in Daviess, Gentry, and Harrison counties, Rural Missouri is about to see a connection revolution. Under the USDA’s ReConnect program, Grand River Mutual Telephone Corporation—also known as GRM Networks—has been given $11,145,525 to transform digital access in the area.

For hundreds of neighbors, numerous local companies, and almost 140 farms, the project will bring about a modern fiber-to—the-premises network. Once finished, the project promises to provide the kind of fast internet many metropolitan areas take for granted, therefore opening new possibilities for business innovation, education, healthcare, and access in these rural towns.

“Connecting residents, businesses, and farms in rural Missouri would not happen without the USDA’s ReConnect program. We could not be more pleased to ensure federal investment in these Northwest Missouri counties will strengthen and expand communication infrastructure—which will lead directly to economic development and business opportunities,” said USDA Rural Development Missouri State Director Kyle Wilkens.

Focused on increasing internet connection in rural and underprivileged regions, the USDA’s ReConnect program is a pillar of initiatives aiming at closing the digital divide. The initiative is promoting inclusiveness and advancement all throughout the nation by making sure rural America has the means to compete in a world going more and more digital.
