Kansas City, Missouri – Kansas City families who are still looking for the perfect birth support will soon have a new chance to meet in person. The Kansas City Health Department is putting on an event for the community to let families and doulas meet, chat, and see if they would be a good fit for each other.
“It’s a Date!” is the name of the event. It will take place on Saturday, February 7, 2026, from noon to 4 p.m. It will take place at the Kansas City Health Department building at 2400 Troost Ave. The event is supposed to be casual and friendly, so families can have short, guided talks with a number of doulas in the afternoon.
Families who are already in the KC Doula Program but haven’t been connected with a doula yet are the only ones who can come to this meet-and-greet. The event offers individuals their time to learn about different support types and personalities before making a decision by having short, low-pressure interactions. Organizers claim that the goal is to make families feel good about the person they chose to help them.
Organizers also want certified doulas from every part of the Kansas City metro region to join in. For doulas, the event is a chance to meet families who are looking for help and explain how they can help them. You have to sign up, and whether or not you may come will depend on how many families are already signed up and how much room is available.

Attendees should expect a pleasant, child-friendly space with light snacks. The space is meant to make families feel comfortable while they talk about important things.
There isn’t a lot of room for family members to join in, and they have to sign up ahead of time. Families that are already in the KC Doula Program will get an email with information about how to register. Doulas must have a valid certification to be present.
