Kansas City prepares garage and shuttle plan for busy World Cup festival days

Date:

Kansas City, Missouri – Kansas City is preparing to move World Cup crowds with another travel choice, this time aimed directly at fans headed to the FIFA Fan Festivalâ„¢ at the National WWI Museum and Memorial.

Through Park KC, the city will offer a park and ride service that gives residents and visitors a way to leave their vehicles at designated municipal garages, then take a shuttle to and from the festival site.

The service is designed to make the trip easier on days when the Fan Festival is active and crowds are expected to build around one of Kansas City’s most visible landmarks.

Two garages are included in the program. Fans may park at the Jazz District Garage at 1819 Lydia Avenue or the West Bottoms Garage at 1601 State Line Road. From there, shuttle service will connect riders with the festivities at the National WWI Museum and Memorial.

The park and ride option will operate on all 18 days that the FIFA Fan Festival™ is open. Shuttle routes will begin two hours before festival activities start and will continue until one hour after activities end, giving fans time to arrive early and leave after the day’s events wrap up.

Accessibility is also part of the plan. ADA accessible buses will be available at both the West Bottoms Garage and the new Jazz District Garage, allowing more visitors to use the service without needing to drive directly into the festival area.

The cost is split into two parts. Parking passes are $11 per vehicle, while shuttle passes are $11 per person. Both types of passes must be purchased online in advance through kcmo.gov/parking. The city has not described this as a pay-on-arrival program, so fans planning to use the service should secure their passes before heading out.

Officials are also making clear that the Park KC service is not the same as the transportation services being provided through ConnectKC2026. Instead, it is meant to serve as an additional option for people attending the FIFA Fan Festivalâ„¢.
