MoDOT announces roadwork on Highway 71 over the weekend, reminds drivers to exercise caution

Date:

Kansas City, Missouri – This weekend, drivers travelling on Highway 71 in Kansas City should expect disruptions due to scheduled roadwork.

The Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT) has issued a warning regarding lane closures and rolling stops that will impact traffic near the 51st St. bridge overpass.

Scheduled Maintenance and Traffic Control

On Sunday, March 10, those traveling on Highway 71 will face lane closures and rolling stops, particularly around the area of the 51st St. bridge overpass.

This disruption is due to “permit work for fiber optic cable repair” that necessitates both closures and rolling stops in the north and southbound lanes.

Drivers should expect these conditions for approximately 15 minutes, between 7 and 7:15 a.m.

To assist with traffic control and ensure the safety of both workers and drivers, the Kansas City, Mo., Police Department will be present. MoDOT urges drivers to exercise caution, slow down, and remain vigilant while passing through the work zones.
